Meredith Myers is a comedian, actor, writer, designer, PR consultant, producer, event planner, and as of May 2010, officially a librarian too! With a diverse resume filled with numerous jobs and a variety of interests, Meredith is a prime example of the cliche 'Life is a journey, not a destination,' although she prefers to write and live her own version 'Why be one thing when you can be everything.' Once voted 'Most Talented' of her high school senior class, Meredith has since proven the title was well deserved but often jokes that she would trade it in for 'Most Likely to Succeed' in a heartbeat since talent can only get you so far.
A creative soul with a head for business, Meredith often explores opportunities that first speak to her heart, not her finances. She launched Meredith Myers Designs in 2004, a purse line she created after teaching herself to sew during Florida's long hurricane season. It was also during that time she finished writing her first novel, a book born as a result her one-woman show like a publicist that she wrote, produced, and starred in August of 2003 in New York City. The show received rave reviews from publicists and press everywhere for her hilariously hardcore yet brutally honest portrayal of the faces behind the famous.
Meredith has been performing stand-up comedy since 2002 at clubs throughout New York and Los Angeles including Comic Strip Live!, Gotham Comedy Club, The New York Comedy Club, Stand-Up NY, The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store and The Improv. As an actor, Meredith has appeared on "The Office," "Chelsea Lately," "Meteor," "Perfect Combination," "Til' Death," "Millionaire Matchmaker," "LA Ink," and competed on the dance show "Master of Dance." In 2008, she created the TV pilot "Career Opportunities with Meredith Myers" to explore her numerous career interests in a comical yet educational way. In 2010, she launched StandUpLIbrarian.com to combine her love of comedy and libraries, with the hopes of showing that not all librarians wear buns in their hair or shush people.
As a publicist, Meredith has had the pleasure of working with a variety of talented individuals including music artists Diana Krall, Billy Gilman, Pharrell Williams, Kelis, Whitney Houston and Tommy Lee, in addition to actors Roberto Benigni, Bridget Fonda, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Renner and Shawn Ashmore, to name a few. Her clients have also included fashion designers, movie studios, music labels, television networks, consumer products and sports.
Before moving to New York City from her hometown of St. Petersburg, FL in 2000, Meredith handled public relations and marketing for the Pinellas County Millennium Celebration, where she helped produce Webb City: the Musical for the stage, in addition to various other events for Pinellas County. Meredith has also handled catering events for The Tampa Bay Rays, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, The Tampa Bay Convention Center, and worked in the promotions department for Cox Broadcasting, which included radio stations Coast 107.3 FM, Warm 94.9 FM, and AM 620 WSUN, where she was a weather reporter and producer for "The Bob Lassiter Show."
Meredith made her first national television appearance back in 2000 as a result of a PR stunt that required she wave a yellow cleaning cloth at Al Roker during his weather segment on "The Today Show." She has since appeared on the cover of Tampa Bay's tbt*, and been featured in The New York Times, The New York Post, Newsday, The Village Voice, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Herald, The Los Angeles Times, The Tampa Tribune, The St. Petersburg Times, Marie Claire, New York magazine and Backstage. She has also been interviewed on WFLA's "Daytime" show, "NewsChannel 8," CNN, "The Early Show," and VH1.
Meredith has a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of South Florida and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Central Florida. She usually divides her time between Los Angeles and Florida and is currently at work on her next adventure when she's not writing, performing, sewing or spending time at her local public library. Her favorite book is The Alchemist.
