NEW YORK, NY,July 29, 2003 - Comedienne and former-publicist Meredith Myers debuts her one-woman show entitled meredith myers - like a publicist beginning Thursday, August 7th at 8:00pm at Opaline (85 Avenue A) in the East Village.Ý The show will run for two short weeks on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.Ý It is the first show of it's kind to offer a journey into the life of a publicist: pitching the media crap, bribing TV producers with trips to Scores, pimping out clients like whores, and of course, all those fabulous gift bags filled with free S%#T!ÝÝ

After spending the past several years in New York working at various PR agencies on accounts ranging from boring consumer products to hot music artists and A-list actors, Myers' found the need to take her insane experiences to the stage.Ý She walks the audience down the red carpet of her publicity life, from her early beginnings of publicizing Tupperware and cleaning products to the music industry and the "Thriller" of meeting Michael Jackson.Ý Myers' hilarious storytelling, which incorporates a killer soundtrack, offers a fun, yet educational insight to her crazy experiences working in entertainment and music with some of today's biggest names you don't know - THE PUBLICISTS!

"Publicists are some of the hardest working people in the entertainment industry, but also under-appreciated and definitely psychotic," said Myers.Ý "The biggest egos in the business tend not to be celebrities, but their publicists!Ý My live 'reality' show will give a peak behind the curtain of the star-making machine.Ý I want to tell the whole truth (or as much as I can say without being sued), because it's not all P. Meredith Myers is also a stand-up comedienne and has performed at comedy clubs throughout New York including Comic Strip Live, Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, and Stand-Up NY.Ý As a publicist, she has worked with such artists as The Neptunes, Kelis, Billy Gilman, JIVEjones, Roberta Flack, and Tommy Lee, as well as actors Bridget Fonda, Roberto Benigni, Shawn Ashmore ("X-Men", "X2: X-Men United") and Jeremy Renner ("Dahmer," "S.W.A.T.").Ý Meredith started out her publicity career working on consumer products and sports before moving into music and entertainment.Ý She lives in New York and is originally from St. Petersburg, FL.
